It’s Mani Monday!

Start of a new week and freshly painted nails! Nothing much occurred this weekend other than a little shopping and wondering what life will be like after graduation and becoming “salaried”. That’s a few months away so for now here are today’s nails.

I was actually testing out different shades of gray (no pun intended, ha!). I decided to keep it because it felt a little like the ombre nail trend, also, I was too lazy to actually redo them one solid color (When I took this photo, I still hadn’t cleaned the messy sides).

From the thumb to pink: White-by OPI, Glitter-by Sinful Colors, Wet Cement- by Sally Hansen, Gun Metal- by Sally Hansen, and Black(Glamourous)-by Essence.

Tip: Every had a hard time taking off glitter nail polish? Try this one from Target! It’s amazing! It has to be this one because others don’t do the job.

.

Working on some new posts for the rest of the week! Stay tuned!

It’s Pinterest Wednesday!

In today’s installment of Pinterest Wednesday!,  I came across some at-home no-equipment fitness posts! How convient for people like me, that no longer have access to their college gyms during the summer (I wished gyms were more affordable, working on student budget here!) to get fit. What have you found on Pinterest lately?

Internet window shopping anyone?

I have a bad habit of browsing the internet for shoes, clothes, and jewelry when I’m bored. This usually leads me to make a list of potential items I can buy first (most affordable), then I work down the list until I get to the more higher end items.

Here are a few of my new discoveries that I happened to find today.

From Nordstrom:

Summer Sandals
Color Satchels

From: Pop of Chic
Rings & Bracelets

CRAWFORD METAL CHAIN BRAID BRACELET MATTED SILVER

There you have it! These things have made it on to my list of want all because I virtually window shop while I’m bored.
Oh, I’m also officially on summer break! Not summer yet, but you get what I mean. Looking forward to some downtime tomorrow, then Thursday I have an interview early in the morning!
Also, I found a new blog that today on tumblr. It’s called What I Wore by Jessica Quirk! Love it! It’s a fashion blog and she has such amazing posts about what SHE wears. Also, look at the theme she uses! LOVE IT! I’m a bit of graphic design/typography geek. This “geek list” is starting to grow! Ha!
Until next time,

It’s Pinterest Wednesday!

While browsing Pinterest today, I came across a delicious VERY LOW CALORIE recipe just in time for the start of summer! Well, “summer” for us that go to school.

Frozen Fruit Pops
Servings: 4 • Serving Size: 1 pop
Calories: 32.1 • Fat: 0.2 g • Carb: 7.8 g • Fiber: 1.1 g • Protein: 0.4 g • Sugar: 5 g
Sodium: 1.4 mg

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup diced kiwi
  • 1/3 cup diced watermelon
  • 1/3 cup diced strawberries
  • 1/3 cup diced pineapple
  • 1/4 cup fresh pineapple juice or orange juice

Directions:

Combine diced fruit in a bowl and fill each 5 oz cup with fruit. Add 1 tbsp of juice and insert craft sticks into each cup. They easily stay in place because of all the fruit. Placein the freezer a few hours until firm. To remove the pops from the cups, run under warm water a few seconds. Enjoy!

What did y’all find on Pinterest today?

May is here! with a healthy recipe

Happy first of the month to all my readers! What a great way to start the month then by working out! Went to the gym for 2 hours and had a nice session on the treadmill and elliptical, which happen to be my favorite machines.

School is officially out for the summer in just 1 week! Well, I have one more regular/review class day this week, then on Tuesday I have my only 2 finals. I will then look into finding a job or a paying internship (these are rare). Life of an undergrad.

I love a blog called Gina’s Skinny Recipes and came across a recipe that resembles my grandmother’s on the go oatmeal shake recipe! I tried it yesterday and is basically tastes the same as my grandmothers.

Here is the recipe:

Avena - Healthy Oatmeal Shake

Servings: 4 • Size: 1 cup • Calories: 123.9 • Fat: 1.8 g • Protein: 6.8 g • Carb: 21.3 g • Fiber: 3.2 g

  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup fat free milk
  • 1 cup ice
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Cook oats and water in a small pot for about a minute or two, stirring often until it becomes thick and bubbly. Remove from heat and let it cool a few minutes.

In a blender add milk, sugar, cinnamon. Add oats and ice. Blend on high until very smooth. Chill in refrigerator or pour in a glass over ice. Enjoy!! Makes 4 cups.

What did you have to eat today?

I thought I’d do some cooking today, well I used the oven, but nonetheless I did cook. I made Parmesan Oven Baked Chicken Strips! I saw the recipe online and thought I’d give it go. I really loved how the parmesan prevented the chicken from drying out considering it was a skinless boneless chicken breast. I then tossed the strips with a cup of crisp romane lettuce and 2 tablespoons of caesar dressing.

I’d say it was a pretty healthy dinner; better than frying the chicken or going to buy something ready made at a fast-food place.

Here is a little photo of my food:
